Past Events: Fall 2005

BOONE - Italian historian and scholar Liliana Picciotto will present a series of lectures at Appalachian State University on Tuesday, November 1; Wednesday, November 2; and Thursday, November 3. The lecture series will be free and open to the public.

Picciotto is a historian and chief archivist at the Foundation Center of Contemporary Hebraic Documentation in Milan and a member of the scientific Committee of the Fossoli Foundation and of the editorial board of the Rassegna Mensile di Israel, a monthly Italian review of Jewish culture.

Picciotto is the author of numerous books and articles, including The Book of Memory, The Jewish Deportation from Italy, 1943-1945, for which she was awarded one of the Aqui Storia prizes. Her CD-Rom, Destination Auschwitz, won the Innovation Prize of the European Union for the best cultural innovative product of 2000. She is also coauthor of the film Memoria, a collection of interviews with Italian survivors of Auschwitz.
